Salvage firm may put MT Pavit up for sale
MUMBAI: MT Pavit, the vessel that was grounded at Juhu beach for around 15 days, may be put up for sale in the next two days.
The Great Offshore Limited, the salvage company that towed the ship away to Dighi port, has issued a notice stating that if their dues are not settled within two days, they will put the vessel up for sale.
Officials from the salvage company said that they had incurred several costs while towing and refloating the ship.

However, none of the expenses have been cleared by the owner of the ship, M/s Pavit Shipping Lines.
"We carried out the refloating work on the directives of several government agencies like Ports and Maharashtra maritime board under the ministry of shipping. However, since we have incurred costs while refloating the ship and towing it safely to Dighi port, we have the first right over the ship," a senior official from the salvage company said.
MT Pavit reached Juhu beach after it drifted from Oman, escaping the notice of security agencies like the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and the city’s marine police. The salvage companies—The Great Offshore Private Limited and Titan Salvage—carried out the refloating operation on Monday and took the ship to Dighi port.
